About the mural with the portrait of the Nafplion prose writer Angelos Terzakis that adorns the 2nd Gymnasium of Nafplion from today, the philologist Alexandra Pitoura spoke to the Argolic News camera.
It was an idea of Mrs. Pitouras, for the students to study an independent literary work, in order to come into meaningful contact and to love Literature more deeply.
In the context of this idea, a cultural program was implemented, approved by the Directorate of Secondary Education of Argolis and the students, under her guidance, studied the novel of the great Nauflian prose writer “The Menexedian State”. With him they thought, dreamed, moved..
But how would this program ideally be completed?
The best way was to have an artistic intervention – a mural – of the author’s portrait in a visible part of the 2nd Gymnasium of Nafplio, a school attended by the students who studied his work. After communication with the artist Mr. Georgios Dimoulas, the depiction of the great writer was planned.
Literature is not a distant region, an abstract state. On the contrary, it is the other side of reality, the feelings that are looking for the opportunity to express themselves, the dream without the hiding place of everyday life. And the writers, the lovers of this dream, which is nothing else, than the very essence of life…” says the announcement of the contributors and the Director of the School, Dionysis Makripodis.
