This celebration is a very big event for Corfu and all 18 Philharmonic Orchestras of the island participate every year along with two or three selected ones invited from other places… and for this reason the invitation to the Chios Philharmonic Orchestra is very honorable and a compliment for the Philharmonic of our island, the Chief Musician and Conductor of Eugenia Vorria who is its soul Philharmonic Hall of the Municipality of Chios in recent years and has raised it to many levels, the musicians and teachers (Chios and from other places)… and the diligent students (young and old) of the wind and percussion instruments of our Philharmonic.

This trip “is a golden opportunity”, educational in terms of music, but also an educational experience that synthesizes stimuli for social, intellectual, cultural and personal development of the young students (as well as the adults) who acquire springboards of useful creativity for the future. The expenses of the trip were jointly covered by the two Philharmonics (Corfu and Chios) and the parents of the children of the Philharmonic contributed with their contribution.

For this very important event, the participation of the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Chios in the Litany of Saint Spyridon on Palm Sunday in Corfu, a joint Press Conference was given by the Chief Musician and Conductor of our Philharmonic, Eugenia Vorrias, and the Deputy Mayor of Culture of Chios John Amenda to give the stamp of good cooperation between them, to the valuable and leading work, both of the Philharmonic, and of Culture with its ramifications in education and society.

Along with the announcement of our Philharmonic’s trip to Corfu to frame the beautiful and great musical tradition of the Ionian with elaborate Chiot notes, our Maestro and Chief Musician Eugenia Vorrias, the new Musician and Flute Teacher of the young and old students of the Philharmonic was presented Zacharias Tarpagos of the Municipality of Chios who spoke to the CITIZEN and emphasized that the educational process, the happy and beneficial daily engagement with music… and the good relationship and communication with the teacher at a young age… is much more important than dry and absolute knowledge…
