Following the initiative of EKASKENOP and its president Stavros Koukakis, the president of the EEC, Vangelis Liolios, was on the morning of Monday, April 22, at the Tripoli City Hall, where he met with the Mayor of the Arcadian capital, Costas Tzioumi.
The responsible deputy mayor for sports, Giorgos Lagos, was also present at the working meeting, with the main topic being the creation of a “balloon” field with the aim of developing sports and basketball in the region.
As stated during the meeting, the Mayor of Tripoli stated that the necessary actions have been taken with the Region of Peloponnese so that the issue of the “balloon” will be included in the broader sports projects for the region with a positive attitude so that each prefecture capital of the Region will have “balloon” fields.
For his part, the president of the EEC, Vangelis Liolios, emphasized the importance of such a project for our city as the creation of another indoor basketball court for the youth of Tripoli, with the Federation at the same time laying the foundations for the development of infrastructure throughout the country.
The open basketball court at the DAK Tripoli has been demarcated as the place to create the “balloon” and it is expected that the Municipality of Tripoli, the Region of Peloponnese and EEC in cooperation with all parties will launch this specific project in the near future.
In his statements, the Mayor of Tripoli spoke about the interest that exists for the cooperation of the Municipality with the EEC for sports programs and at the same time emphasized that in cooperation with the Federation a study will be carried out in order to find the necessary funding to build the new “balloon-type” indoor stadium ».
The president of the Hellenic Basketball Federation expressed his joy for his meeting with the Mayor of Tripoli, speaking in flattering words about him, mentioning that he is “deep” knowledgeable about the region and sports matters.
In addition, Vangelis Liolios told us about the way the Mayor of Tripoli understands the issues of sports and the cooperation that exists both for the coordination of such a project and for multiple issues and sports programs that are expected to run soon in the region.
It is worth noting that Vangelis Liolios presented the Mayor of Tripoli with an official Greek national basketball jersey with the name and number of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Immediately after, the president of the EEC had a meeting with representatives of Associations of our prefecture where he heard proposals and concerns regarding basketball in Arcadia.
