Meetings and tours of MP Maria Komninaka

Tours to workplaces, training and villages were carried out by KKE ranks led by the Member of Parliament of N. Lesvos Maria Komninaka.

On Tuesday he toured the court where he held a meeting with them court officials, in view of the upcoming passing of the bill for the New Judicial Charter, which advances the consolidation of the first degree of jurisdiction by abolishing the Magistrates’ Courts. The judicial officers expressed their opposition to the new bill, as they have already expressed in their recent general meeting. At the same time, they expressed their indignation at the very large problems that remain due to the large understaffing, especially in the Mytilene First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, which leads to over-intensive working conditions for employees and exhaustion, a situation that will further worsen with the new court mergers. The MP expressed the KKE’s direct opposition to the proposed changes to the Judicial Charter, which is another unpopular prerequisite of the Recovery Fund, based on the World Bank’s guidelines. He emphasized that the mergers and abolition of courts are done with the criterion of saving resources and certainly not the easier and less expensive access of the popular strata to justice. It is another link in the transformation of justice into an investment approach factor, as advertised by the government, a justice more friendly to business interests, but more hostile and inaccessible to the popular strata. He reminded that the KKE consistently claims the full staffing of the courts, just as it has supported all the salary and work requests of the court employees, for which it has submitted relevant questions to the Parliament. At the same time, he called on the judicial officials to strengthen the competitive assertion of their requests, but also to make use of their experience by condemning also in the European elections the “cost-benefit” logic that puts on the scales and creates a price list for all aspects of our lives, strengthening the KKE which is the only consistent force opposing these policies.

On the same day, they visited her DYPA professional apprenticeship school. There, they spoke with professors and students. The member of parliament emphasized that the fact that all teachers are in a permanent hostage status, hourly workers and substitutes, who have been “making up for themselves” for the last 20 years, is a typical example of the policy that governments have implemented over time in education. In the same insecurity as the students who often do not manage to complete and abandon their specialty halfway through, due to the inability to find an internship. He also highlighted the party’s position that student practice should be done within the school and decent wages and rights should be secured and not “advertise” students in terms of a slave market, as cheap labor, as in the recent fiesta that was organized.

In Panayouda and Pamphila, they toured shops and cafes. The criticality of the European elections battle was pointed out, which should be a resounding condemnation of the dangerous policy of the country’s involvement in the various war fronts, with the responsibility of the ND government but also the complicity of the other parties that support these dangerous choices. It was emphasized that 90% of the legislation coming to the Greek parliament are EU directives, in which the ND-PASOK-SYRIZA-NEA ARISTERA-ELL have agreed in the majority. SOLUTION, no matter how much they try to differentiate themselves afterwards. Workers, residents and patrons expressed concerns and indignation at the cover-up in the crime of Tempe, to be precise, for the difficulties they experience as farmers, but also concern for the dangers in which the people have been involved in the event of a generalization of the war. The MP said that behind all these crimes is the seal of the EU, which all the other parties are trying to wash off, after they have put their signature on them. The disorientation they attempt with the various terms lifestyle ballots of the other parties, cannot hide their consent to all that blackens our lives, which is why only the significant strengthening of the KKE can be a hopeful message of a pan-European counterattack, which is also the only anti-systemic vote, the only real working people’s opposition in the Parliament, the European Parliament but also on the street, where the decisive battles are fought for the life we deserve.

On Thursday, the MP toured the Mytilini Fire Service. He initially discussed with the Regional Director of the North Aegean Fire Services, P. Kypriotelli, regarding the preparation of the corps and the Forestry Service, at the level of prevention, in view of the fire fighting season, while he then spoke with the fire officials, where once again the need for immediate staffing of the services was emphasized in order not to be forced into permanent vigilance, over-intensive working conditions and great strain, which endangers both the firefighters themselves and the effectiveness of their important work. They also mentioned the age of the vehicles and the lack of personal protective equipment, being a sector where the allowance for heavy and unhealthy occupations has not yet been recognized for everyone. The member of parliament referred to the Question tabled by the parliamentary group of the KKE, which was presented at a relevant event in the Parliament on the preventive measures in view of the fire fighting season, where, among other things, it is requested to cover the huge gaps in the Fire Service and the Forestry Services, with permanent staff and the permanentization of all five-year, seven-year and seasonal firefighters, with full employment rights, so that their full operational utilization is possible. Of course, the KKE supports the request for the inclusion of firefighters in Heavy, Unhealthy and Dangerous, as well as the institution of a modern salary that corresponds to the current cost of living, with full compensation for overtime, nighttime, exceptional, etc. Finally, he referred to the lack of a comprehensive firefighting plan protection with a focus on prevention, but also the policy of governments and the EU that treats the fire protection of people, property and forests as a cost, a policy that must be condemned en masse in the European elections, strengthening the KKE, the only consistent opponent of these policies .
