Tourist traffic from the Netherlands and Belgium to Greece has increased by almost 5% compared to the corresponding period last year, according to the booking data for the first quarter of 2024, as recorded by the Association of Tour Operators of Belgium (ABTO).

In the meantime, Greece continues to be successfully promoted in the markets of the Netherlands by participating in promotional actions such as that of Office of the EOT of the Netherlands in two TravDay workshops, held on March 26, 2024 in Amersfoort, Netherlands and on March 28, 2024 in Ghent, Belgium.

As part of the workshops, B2B meetings were held with representatives of tourist offices and Tour Operators of the Dutch and Belgian markets, with the aim of strengthening relations and promoting Greece as an attractive tourist destination.

During the meetings, the EOT representatives presented the advantages of Greece as a tourist destination, focusing on the variety of tourist products, the unique experiences that our country offers, as well as the new tourist attractions and infrastructure.

At the same time, there was an update on the current market trends, the prospects for the 2024 tourist season, and the possibilities offered by the Greek regions.

Increase in bookings and optimism for the tourist season

As part of the TravDay workshops, the course of bookings for Greece from the Dutch and Belgian markets was also recorded.

According to the report of the Association of Tour Agents of Belgium (ABTO) on the travel trends and travel intentions of Belgian tourists during the 1st quarter of the year 2024, an increase in bookings for Greece is observed of the order of 4.88%, compared to the corresponding period last year.

This increasing tendency of bookings for Greece was also confirmed by the present Tour Operators and travel agents in the context of their meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

This increase, combined with the interest and optimism expressed by Tour Operators, show that the 2024 tourist season is expected to be particularly successful for Greece.

The participation of EOT in the TravDay workshops confirmed the interest and love that Dutch and Belgian travelers have for Greece.

The increase in bookings, the optimism of Tour Operators and the successful presence of EOT confirm that Greece is one of the top tourist destinations for 2024.
