Tragic ending had for one disabled woman her last meal as the girl helping her under the program “Personal Assistant” proved unsuitable for such a position.

The woman had a personal assistant through this, which concerns people who are close to our fellow citizens with disabilities, in order to help them in their daily lives.

Unfortunately the woman at the time she was eating in her bedshe choked and the assistant was not in the room at the time.

The assistant, when she realized that something was wrong, did not immediately call 166 and when the ambulance finally arrived it was already too late.

“He didn’t have enough knowledge about people with disabilities”

The woman’s brother spoke to MEGA about his sister’s adventure but about the difficulties that meeting in order to find “help” through the program offered by the relevant ministries.

“We had two personal assistants, because my sister had mobility problems and was entitled to 277 hours a month, and we had both morning and afternoon. this program is a pilot and I had a hard time getting his schedule to be compatible with my sister’s, having free hours. The most specialized one was difficult to find and did not have sufficient knowledge about people with disabilities”he initially said.

When I was at school – because I am a teacher – the neighbor took me at 11.10 and told me that the girl next door was asking for help because my sister was drowning.added Mr. Giorgos.
