On the day of his 24th birthday, which he will never celebrate, the father of Nikolas Bitsakis, the student who lost his life about two years ago in Larissa, published a song, the lyrics of which he wrote.

“Today you would have completed your 24 years on earth. Happy angelic birthday my soul!” wrote Manos Bitsakis, accompanying it with the heartbreaking song.

An unimaginable tragedy, an incredible accident that occurred at 07:20 on the morning of Sunday, February 22, 2022, when the 22-year-old “kicked the metal entrance door of the building”, resulting in “the brick pillar that supported it and which had suffered due to due to faulty maintenance, damages to collapse and parts of it to cause him a severe brain injury, as a result of which his death occurred exclusively” according to the indictment.

Almost two years after the death of the 22-year-old who was studying in Larissa, at the Department of Business Administration of the University of Thessaly, the Deputy Prosecutor of Larissa – according to information from the “Eleftheria” newspaper – prosecuted the owner of the house, as well as his official Municipality of Larissa, while the trial of the case was determined for the coming November at the Three-member Criminal Court.

The young Economics student in the early hours of that Sunday passed by the abandoned building with his company after going out. In his path, he kicked a metal door, causing the wall it was resting on to fall and crush him. His death came within minutes.

Scenes of an ancient tragedy unfolded there. A neighbor heard the voices of his group and came down to help. “I heard the girl calling for an ambulance and I went out. I went over there, saw the lad down there and realized there’s no way he’s alive. I started taking his pulse, he had a slight pulse. I basically lied to the girl that: “Yes wait for the ambulance to come, don’t worry”, to calm her down. And after five minutes he cooled down, took two deep breaths and left. We are talking about a block of bricks that smashed into the child’s head, his head was mashed,” said an eyewitness.
