Since early Monday morning, a police operation has been underway for the case of Rentis and the murder of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, last December.
A few days ago, the case file was delivered by the sub-directorate for dealing with violence in sports venues for the establishment of a criminal organization and arrest warrants were issued.
Information says that the recruitments are currently more than 50, while 60 people are still being sought.
The case file includes more than 150 defendants.
It is noted that the operation concerns people who are not only related to the Rentis case but to at least 10 other cases of incidents and attacks in sports venues. Among the additions many people associated with fan links.
According to police sources, among the people who have been brought in, there is also the moral perpetrator of the attack against the policemen in Rentis, the one who organized it.
It is reminded that Giorgos Lyggeridis had lost his life after being hit in the leg by a naval flare at the end of Decemberduring of incidents at the Rentis indoor stadium, in a volleyball match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.
He fought for 20 days to keep himself alive but did not succeed.

“A large-scale operation by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in the sports grounds of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of this morning to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7-12-2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far dozens of people have been brought in as well as a large number of searches in houses and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized”.
