She tried to hide her scars from the double mastectomy

THE Olivia Mann admitted that she tried to hide her wounds after undergoing a double mastectomy.

The actress, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023, made a red carpet appearance at the 2024 Oscars in March before publicly sharing her diagnosis a month ago.

Speaking to People, Mann said: “I have some bumps and lumps on one side of my body near where the lymph nodes were and they really had to dig out. And I wore some dresses on the red carpet that made me a little nervous at times.”

The 43-year-old actress wowed at the Oscars, where she wore a bronze dress alongside her partner of three years, John Maleny. “We’re really trying to figure out where the dents are and how to make it really smooth and cover everything so I can wear it“, the actress said about the dress after the operation. “It’s not something I can do on my own, but knowing that option exists when I’m in front of the camera has made me feel a lot better“, he continued.

In addition to being careful about what she wears, Mann also said she let her hair down to hide her scars.

“Sometimes I look in the mirror and think, “Oh, my hair is so long now and it’s because of this.”,” he shared with the magazine, adding: “And sometimes it makes me a little sad that I still want to hide certain aspects. But then I remind myself that these are ‘battle wounds’ and I can show them when I want and hide them when I want.”
