Mr. Amanatidis explained that the above works are being carried out in the context of the preventive strength control of the Serbion Bridge and that in the next period the works of total strengthening, upgrading and restoration of it, which has been maintained since 1975, when it was built, will be auctioned.

Present at the briefing on the progress of the bridge restoration works were the Deputy Minister of the Interior, responsible for Macedonia and Thrace, Stathis Konstantinidis and the MP Michalis Papadopoulos.

The High Bridge of Serbia, 1,372 meters long, is one of the longest bridges in Greece. It was built on the occasion of the creation of the artificial Polyphytos lake as a result of the PPC dam of the same name and was put into use in 1975. In the last two years, restoration work has been carried out on the bridge cantilevers due to the intense oxidation of the load-bearing organism.
