A 63-year-old man was arrested, as part of the carjacking, in Cell by police officers of the Security Department of the Athens Airport Police Department for aggravated theft in a row, violation of weapons legislation and deprivation of a driver’s license.

Specifically, according to the police, the defendant took money and clothes from a vehicle, which was parked in the commercial park of the Athens airport, at noon on Thursday.

From the preliminary investigation it emerged that the defendant, who is a foreigner, he would approach his target cars and the moment the drivers got out of them, he would activate frequency jamming machines, preventing them from locking.

After the drivers got out of their cars, the 63-year-old gained access to their interiors and removed various items.

After a search of his home in the area of ​​Kypseli, among other things, they found and confiscated:

  • Three frequency interleaving machines,
  • the sum of 5,450 euros, 1,334 US dollars, 20 Australian dollars, 130 German marks and 10,000 drachmas,
  • 27 caskets containing many jewels,
  • multitude of tools,
  • multitude of perfumes, sunglasses, handbags, electronic cigarettes and
  • Six folding knives.

The car he was using for his travels was also confiscated.

Two vehicle thefts and shoplifting were also solved. The arrested person was taken to the competent Prosecutor.
