In his speech, he took inspiration both from the Gospel passage and from Saint Mary of Egypt, whom our Holy Church promotes on this day.

Saint Mary of Egypt, known for her former sinful life, journeyed to Jerusalem, not simply to worship the Holy Land but to know and love the God-man Jesus, whom she brought into her life.

In the same course, according to the Gospel passage of Mark, Jesus marches towards Jerusalem, to sacrifice his life and salvation out of love above the world.

Osia Maria the Egyptian, after trying to enter the interior of the church of the Resurrection, and not being strong because of her sinfulness, is led by God to the rapture, and from the rapture she feels remorse and repentance.

Thus, the feeling of sacrificial love, with which God taught us, with his own martyrdom on the cross, begins to act in her.

Osia, feeling this feeling, leaves for the desert, and there she now experiences, through practical repentance, the true love for God and also for her fellow man, whom she wronged with her sin with her attitude.

On the other hand, our Lord, arriving in Jerusalem, prepares His disciples for His coming martyrdom, so that they will not be disappointed.

The attitude of the disciples, especially James and John, who ask him to be seated next to His glory, and meaning earthly glory, showed the same spiritual weakness by not being able to understand the sacrificial love of Jesus.

When our Lord answered them and told them that you do not know what you are asking, a fact that applies to each of us throughout time, when we ask for the ephemeral, the earthly and the perishable, from our Lord.

Because, we too move on the same wavelength, even after the Grace of Pentecost, which inspired our Church of Christ, as we continue to be tasteless and untouched by the true sacrificial love of God.

When our Lord tells us that the rulers of the nations dominate and dominate the peoples, this phrase of our Lord truly hides the absence of love from the society in which we live.

While he explains to us, in the life in Christ, that it does not happen the same, but whoever wants to be first, becomes a deacon. The ministry of love is the characteristic of life and society in Christ.

In the new era in which we live, the high meanings we derive from today’s Gospel passage are incomprehensible to modern man.

We will need the rebirth in Christ and the search for the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives, so that the inner man is transformed. That is, what Saint Mary the Egyptian also did, and through the true love of God, she reached the knowledge of God.

Our path, towards the great week of passions, must be a regenerative path. Journey of repentance and participation in the mystery of God’s sacrifice and love, which he offered for all of us.

In the end, His Holiness wished the people to celebrate the Holy and Holy Week with enthusiasm, and to experience the Resurrection of our Lord, shining by the Light of His Resurrection.

In the afternoon, His Eminence officiated at the last Consecration Vespers at the Holy Pilgrimage of Agios Spyridon, where the speaker was the Archimandrite and Preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Father Seraphim Linosporis, who referred to spiritual experiences, near the holy and holy Elder Ephraim the Philotheist – An Arizonan, and especially for the experience of monologue prayer, which the holy Elder taught.

Mr. Nektarios closed the cycle of the Holy and Great Pentecost speeches by thanking the preacher, but also by exhorting the people, those holy Philokalic figures of the fathers, which he highlights every season, to teach us from their lives and teachings.
