“The duty of an organized state of law is social cohesion, solidarity with the weak members of society. And this is served through the social state which is a conquest of Western civilization. OPECA is a mirror of the social state, which in order to be able to respond to its mission we should provide it with all the supplies. As I pointed out to the dear minister, listening to the comments of the workers in the Regional Directorate of Thessaly, the staffing with additional staff will facilitate their work to serve the citizens more directly. The above was emphasized by the MP of Larissa of New Democracy, Mr. Maximos Charakopoulos from the Regional Directorate of the Organization of Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPEKA) of Thessaly, where he received the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Mr. Sofia Zacharakis.
Reinforcement of OPECA Thessaly with staff
The Thessalonian politician, while waiting for the minister, spoke with the Director Mrs. Dionysia Kyritsakas, the heads of Welfare Allowances Mrs. Georgia Phytilis and Family Allowances Mrs. Maria Geka, as well as the employees and was informed in detail about the administrative structure and the needs of the service, in order to respond better to its mission. As underlined, the staffing of the service with additional employees would allow the faster processing of citizens’ cases. The work of the Organization for Greek society is particularly important, since it supports families with low incomes, our fellow citizens and children with special needs, the elderly who do not receive a pension from insurance funds and the needy. As the minister mentioned, during the five-year period 2019-2023, OPECA has allocated more than 16 billion euros to families and vulnerable social groups.
Maximos Charakopoulos, recognizing the importance of the Organization’s contribution, but also the contribution of the employees, congratulated them “for their genuine interest, which shows real empathy. I am sure that the meaningful discussion we had with the minister friend will launch actions to solve the issues that were rightly raised, mainly the reinforcement with personnel”.
