“Asphyxiation by swallowing food”. This is the cause of death of the one-year-old infant from Kos, according to the conclusion of the Forensic Service of Rhodes. The drowning of the unfortunate girl was caused by undigested French fries, which caused airway obstruction.
The findings of the medical examiner are consistent with the initial indications found by the doctors of the hospital in Kos, who fought for several minutes, trying to bring the infant back, but also with the traces of vomit, which were found during the autopsy by the Police, in family home.
The 20-year-old mother and the 21-year-old father have been arrested on the charge of deadly exposure, while by order of the Prosecutor, the second child of the family, aged two years, was taken away from the parents. It is worth noting that the father had been arrested in the past for possession of child pornography material and the Police Department of the Security Department found that he had views of such material on his mobile phone.
The unfortunate infant was found unconscious by his mother at 19:45 on Saturday afternoon. Neighbors of the family, hearing the screams of the 20-year-old, rushed to provide first aid, but neither they, nor the EKAV rescuers, nor the hospital doctors, managed to save the infant, who died an hour later, on the 20th: 45.
