An anti-war march as a statement of support for the Palestinian people was organized today, Sunday afternoon, in Larissa by the Peace Committee.

“We are too involved in these businesses. And that is dangerous. We are in favor of friendship and cooperation of all peoples. We say no to war, yes to peace,” said the president of the Peace Committee, Dimitra Papastergiou.

The march started from ATA square and ended at the 1st Army.

The resolution of the gathering

“All the agencies, the unions, the associations, all of us gathered here today, we condemn the genocide against the Palestinian people as well as the involvement of our country in the Red Sea and in the NATO war plans.

The hotbeds of war in the region that bear the stamp of the aggression of the state of Israel and have the support of the USA, NATO and the EU, create a dangerous situation. The ongoing genocide against the people of Palestine, the Israeli attacks in Syria Lebanon, the tense imperialist rivalries in the Red Sea are paving the way for the generalization of the war. Tensions are escalating following Iran’s attack on Israel, in response to Israel’s murderous attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus and Israel’s response by bombing Iran.

The further involvement of NATO in the war in Ukraine, and the involvement of Greece on all these fronts, not only with the provision of bases, but even with the dispatch of military equipment and units of the Armed Forces, have absolutely nothing to do with security and defense of the country, as argued by the government and the Euro-Atlantic parties. On the contrary, they portend even greater dangers.

Larissa, and more broadly the region of Thessaly, has turned into a vast US-NATO base. Larissa has already been dynamically included in the planning of the Americans, as 110 AM has emerged as a capital airport and with the aim of becoming the third NATO base in Greece for unmanned aircraft and other military means, as it has a special value for the USA – NATO – EU and their plans against Russia and China, but also in the effort of the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Balkan region, the penetration into the countries of Eastern Europe.

Also, within the framework of the Headquarters of the 1st Army, operates the Hellenic European Union Operations Headquarters, which was “offered” by the government of the Netherlands in order to have a leading coordinating role in the war operation “ASPIDES” in the war zone of the Red Sea and with the participation of the “HYDRA” frigate. Accordingly, the base in Stefanovikio, the Georgoula camp and the transformation of the port of Volos into a gateway for the promotion of American-NATO killers on the war front can only provide security to the people of our region, since we become a “magnet” in any potential military conflict.

The Greek government, like the previous ones, continues the policy of involving our country in geopolitical rivalries dangerous for the people for the interests of monopoly capital. Our country’s involvement not only does not protect the people, but instead puts them in great danger. This is why it is necessary to strengthen even more the popular struggle against these plans and the further involvement of our country. Let our people’s opposition to this anti-popular policy be expressed even more strongly, part of which is Greece’s involvement in the US-NATO plans.

We demand and demand:

1. To leave the Hellenic European Union Operations Headquarters EL EU OHQ from the 1st Army. Not to be used as an operations center of the EU “ASPIDES” operation, like any other infrastructure.
2. To close the American bases in the 110th Fighter Wing, in Stefanovikio, in Souda, in Alexandroupolis and throughout the country.
3. Disengagement of Greece from imperialist plans and wars.
4. No sending of military forces and war material outside the borders. No infantrymen, non-commissioned officers and officers in the imperial missions.
5. Not to install nuclear weapons in Araxos and anywhere else in Greece.
6. No change of the borders and the conditions that determine them.
7. The release of our country from the wolf alliances of NATO and the EU.
