Runners from the wider region and beyond, had the opportunity to run 5 km and 10 km. and enjoy the beautiful ride to beach piece city’s. The interest of both citizens and tourists was very great, who with their passion and enthusiasm supported the effort of young and old.
Record participation in the children’s race
The Run Greece races are not just a sports event for runners, but a race for the whole family. And in Nafplio this became perfectly noticeable. The city in its first event touched it record participation in the children’s racewith hundreds of children to pour into the main streets of the city.
The call of SEGAS found a response in the schools of the area, and so about 800 children were at the starting line in Filellinon square.
The young students with a smile, enthusiasm and fun enjoyed their participation in the race. In fact, at the finale of the event, a big surprise awaited them as a representative from each Primary school of the city, which participated in the match, received a competitive appearance of the national team with the signatures of Miltos Tedoglou and Emmanuel Karalis.
The 4th Primary school, in addition to the national jersey, also received a cup, as it was the school with the largest number of participants. The young students warmed up with the 400 m champion. The first vice-president of SEGAS, Costas Kenteris, the second vice-president and president of the Roads Committee, were in Nafplio. The Mayor of Nafplion, Dimitris Orfanos, the deputy regional governor Vassilis Sideris, the vice-mayors Sofia Xydis, Stavros Gavrilos and Konstantina Karagianni, the appointed councilor for sports matters Thanasis Panoutsopoulos and the chairperson of the school committees of the Municipality, Andzis Panagiotakopoulos, were present in Filellini Square.
Karavidas winner at 10 km.
The evergreen George Karavidas he was the winner in the 10km with 34.32 and enjoyed his participation in the event. “It was a very beautiful event, very well organized. I enjoyed my participation in it and I expect that in the coming years it will be even bigger”, said the former marathon champion. The second place in the competition was taken by Panagiotis Aliferis with 34.43 and the third o Athanasios Makris with 35.18.
In women, the winner in the distance was Tsvetelina Petrova with 44.16 and followed by Iulia Chroni (48.09) and n Dora Psourogiannis (48.51).
At 5 km. of Men, the first was Panagiotis Pantazis (18.05) and followed Dimitris Kremmidas (18.58) and Giorgos Giouris (19.16).
The women prevailed Stella Kostidou (20.06) and were followed by Daghre Marina (21.39) and Sophia Gotsi (22.18).
The completely successful race was organized by SEGAS in collaboration with the Municipality of Nafplion, the Region, EAS SEGAS of the Peloponnese Region and major sponsor ERGO HELLAS.
