Komotini: Pursuit of migrant smugglers on Egnatia Street

At noon on Saturday, April 20, in Egnatia Street, Komotini – Xanthi, by police officers of the Sapon Border Guard Department with the assistance of police officers from the Yasmos Border Guard Department of the Rodopi Police Department, a local trafficker, who was promoting illegal immigrants into the country.

In more detail, the police officers arrested the perpetrator, because they spotted him riding in an I.X.E. car with an unknown accomplice who is wanted and to illegally transport five (5) illegal immigrants into the country.

It is noted that the arrested driver of the vehicle, who lacks a driver’s license, initially did not comply with a police stop sign and developed speed driving dangerously. Finally, the vehicle veered off its course and came to a halt after hitting protective bars on the road, while the perpetrators – traffickers fled on foot, but one of them was arrested.

The above vehicle was impounded. The arrested person will be taken to the District Attorney of Rodopi, while the preliminary investigation is carried out by the Border Guard Department of Sapa.
