After a marathon meeting of the Umbrella members, it was decided shortly before one in the morning to participate in the SYRIZA Central Committee at the weekend.
The departure of the Umbrella is discounted however, there are issues to be clarified: When exactly and by what process will the approximately 40 members of the Central Committee who are expected to leave with Euclid Tsakalotos leave.
It is recalled that early yesterday morning, Umbrella submitted a text of 1,300 signaturesnoting that this is not going to be submitted to the Central Committee, announcing the reasons why they are leaving and describing their next steps in order for the Renewing Left to have a reliable body.
The 1,300 members who sign the text also describe the characteristics of the body envisioned to fill the void left by SYRIZA under its new leadership.
“Our intention and goal is to ensure a political space capable of defending and promoting the identity, character, values, ideas and political proposals of the Left,” the text specifically emphasizes.
The letter is signed by, among others: Andreas Xanthos, Panos Skourletis, Euclides Tsakalotos, Nikos Filis, Kostas Athanasiou, Nikos Voutsis, Anneta Kavvadia, Panos Lambrou.
In the meantime, they had a short four-four in a good atmosphere yesterday in the Parliament Euclid Tsakalotos with Nikos Pappawith the two agreeing that there is no room for Umbrella to stay in the party under this climate and the chaotic disagreements of the trend with the new leadership (and the leadership group).

In view of the KE, Efi Ahtsioglou’s Group also held a meeting, in order to organize its movements.
Surprise moves, such as departure, from the group in question are not expected. They will stick to the political framework they have set by criticizing the leadership’s moves so far.

Giorgos Stathakis: The election of Kasselakis is political suicide
Giorgos Stathakis, who has already announced his resignation, blamed the leadership of Stefanos Kasselakis for what is happening in SYRIZA last night, stating that he will not attend the meeting of the Central Committee of the party next weekend, even as an observer.
He emphasized how the team surrounding the new president, “is a team of failure”.
Specifically, speaking to the KONTRA television station, Mr. Stathakis clarified that he is leaving SYRIZA and emphasized that he is closing the door on SYRIZA. “For me, SYRIZA with Kasselakis as president is over,” said Mr. Stathakis.
Furthermore, he noted that the program decided at the last conference no longer exists. “This program was forgotten the day it was voted on,” he said, stressing that the party’s election campaign had nothing to do with the program and was wrongly based on wage increases, pensions, management of bad loans and tax cuts.
“I attribute SYRIZA’s policy of defeat in the elections to all the choices made from 2019 to 2023,” he said, throwing arrows at the choices of the leadership of Alexis Tsipras.
Referring to the actions of SYRIZA, did not fail to describe as an “original sin” the cooperation with Panos Kammenos and ANEL to form a government from 2015 to 2019.
Regarding the party’s strategy, Mr. Stathakis clarified that populism is not an option that leads to victories in the elections.
At the same time, commenting on Stefanos Kasselakis, he clarified how is a political suicide for SYRIZA his election to the leadership of the party.
At the same time, commenting on the environment of the new president, he emphasized that the team that surrounds him is a losing team, “pointing” to persons such as Theodora Tzakri and Pavlos Polakis.
