In his statements, the president of PAK Thessaly, Mr. Christos Athanasiadis, pointed out the following:
“The two-day distillers-vintners are facing huge problems and this year’s season is predicted to be particularly difficult, since the grape growing was hit hard by downy mildew and the adverse weather conditions, which affected the quantity but fortunately not the quality of the product and the producers expect the relevant compensation from ELGA, while we also have the enormous destruction in vineyards caused by the deadly storms Daniel and Elias.
In addition to the hemp-vine growers, issues arise with last year’s changes and mainly the tripling of the Excise Tax, while we do not forget the change in the name of the product
product from bulk tsipouro or tsikoudia in “traditional two-day distillate”, through which the traditional name and identity of the product that existed for many years is lost.
The tsipouro produced by the grape-growers, in addition to its excellent quality, is a supplement to agricultural production and the income of agricultural households, and the State should
he stands as a helper towards all people.”
