A critical meeting is held from Thursday afternoon at “Umbrella” of SYRIZAunder Euclid Tsakalotos.
As reported by capital.gr, on the table is possibility of leaving the party even tomorrowwithout even attending the weekend’s Central Committee.
Another possibility that is being discussed is that its executives will “attend” the Central Committee on Saturday, only Euclid Tsakalotos will take the floor, and immediately after that the members of the Central Committee will leave.
For the time being, no decision has been made, but officials say that the final decisions will be made tonight.
In the meantime, earlier in Parliament short tete-a-tete in a good atmosphere they had Euclid Tsakalotos with Nikos Pappa, with the two agreeing that there is no room for Umbrella to stay in the party under this climate and the chaotic disagreements of the trend with the new leadership (and the leadership group).
To the extent that the final decision that Umbrella will take is to leave before the meeting of the Central Committee, the facts change drastically and mainly in terms of the climate of the meeting, since obviously the wild rock scenes that they intended for will be avoided leadership team members.
The Ahtsioglou Group also met
In view of the KE, Efi Ahtsioglou’s Group also held a meeting, in order to organize its movements in the KE. Surprise-dissolving moves, i.e. withdrawal, from the said group are not expected. They will stick to the political framework they have set by criticizing the leadership’s moves so far.
The cauldron has been boiling for some time, with Euclides Tsakalotos, the executives to be deleted as well as other members of the party, such as Giorgos Stathakis, putting an end to the series that started the day after the election of Kasselakis to the presidency of the party.
The former finance minister himself announced this at the event in Trianon, where he sent a message of rupture, asking if “we can be in this party?”:
“Is there room in this party? Nobody here thinks we should be in a party that has only our own ideas. SYRIZA’s condition was to be a pluralist party. Far be it from us that we no longer like this party because it does not have our ideas.”
Intervention by 1,300 SYRIZA members: The Kasselakis myth is a fraud, the way out is on the left
Loud message to the leadership of SYRIZA, in view of the Central Committee of the party, they send 1,300 members (mainly of Umbrella), in an intervention text entitled “Exit to the Left”.
In the text they mention, among other things, that they are deeply worried about the future of the party. and they emphasize that they cannot passively watch “the resignation trends and departures, which are intensifying every day now that a cycle of electoral contests is closing with the results of the self-governing elections discouraging for SYRIZA”.
Alongside, they leave sharp points for those who surround the leadership team of Stefanos Kasselakis stating: “There is no doubt that the close group of executives surrounding St. Kasselakis is leading, with his consent, SYRIZA to mutate into an apolitical formation, unrelated to any version of SYRIZA or even SYRIZA-PS”.
In addition, the 1,300 members who sign the text also describe the characteristics of the body envisioned to fill the void left by SYRIZA under its new leadership. “Our intention and goal is to ensure a political space capable of defending and promoting the identity, character, values, ideas and political proposals of the Left,” the text specifically emphasizes.
“We want to create a common place capable of inspiring optimism and mobilizing those who are led to resign, but also the “abstention crowd”, which is fueled by the mistaken belief that there is nothing to expect from politics, while, on the contrary , almost everything depends on our participation in political processes and social movements,” he concludes.
The letter is signed by, among others: Andreas Xanthos, Panos Skourletis, Euclid Tsakalotos, Nikos Filis, Kostas Athanasiou, Nikos Voutsis, Anneta Kavvadia, Panos Lambrou.
