Measures to support the flood victims were decided by the Larisa Municipal Council

A series of measures related to the support of the flood victims was unanimously decided at today’s meeting by the Municipal Council of Larissa, with the outgoing mayor of Larissa, Apostolos Kalogiannisto refer to exemptions on DEVAL accounts, kindergarten tuition fees, tuition fees at DOL, Ballet School and Art Gallery and free access to the Social Grocery Store.

“At least 2,500 families are flood-affected… The Municipality has exhausted every possibility of assistance and of the 2.5 million euros spent on restoration work, we only received 500,000 euros from the ministry,” Mr. Kalogiannis emphasized.

In interventions, the affected asked for support measures but also for clarification of the landscape in terms of who are the beneficiaries of these measures, while in addition their expansion was also proposed, with a parallel request for moral damages.

“There is a lot of sloppiness, but we will vote on the measures,” the head of the major opposition emphasized. Thanasis Mamakos, while all factions moved in the same spirit, asking to examine all the cases of the affected (auxiliary areas, basements, etc.), as well as to examine care for the businesses as well.
