Tachiaos: The Thessaloniki Metro will be delivered in the second half of 2024

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for infrastructure, Mr. Nikos Tachiaos, was invited to the “Connections” show of ERT, and the journalists Christina Vidou and Costa Papachliminzo.

The Deputy Minister, on the occasion of the pruning of the trees and the reactions to the Metro station in Exarchia, stated that a Metro cannot be built without cutting down or replanting trees, as on the one hand the trench must be made and on the other hand there must be construction sites. However, as he said, it has been agreed with the Municipality of Athens to plant 2,950 trees, as compensation, during the works.

In addition, he pointed out that the metro is a pro-people tool, which was designed in 2018 by the SYRIZA Government and which the Kyriakos Mitsotakis Government “rescued”, emphasizing then that “it will be done exactly as planned”. In fact, he emphasized that the same applies to all the stations, both the station of the Annunciation and that of the Exarchies.

In closing, Mr. Tachiaos it was also mentioned in Thessaloniki. In response to a question regarding the concession of Egnatia Road, he noted that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is in direct communication with TAIPED seeking to speed up its concession, in order to sign the contract by the end of the year and the first quarter of the following year to have taken place. At the same time, he did not fail to underline how the Subway will be delivered in the second half of 2024, as announced.
