The Israel expected to start from today (09/11) “four-hour ceasefires» in northern Gaza, according to the US.
According to a post by journalist Barak Ravid, citing a statement from White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, “Beginning today, Israel will implement a daily 4-hour pause in hostilities in northern Gaza”.
But this particular news was denied from the office of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuaccording to a Times of Israel report.
Israel has been implementing these pauses since Sunday, opening a daily four-hour humanitarian corridor on Salah A Din road for for the Palestinians to evacuate northern Gaza to the south of it, it is typically mentioned.
However, he referred to the policy as a “humanitarian corridor” and not as “humanitarian pauses”apparently sensitive to the limited political appetite in Israel for the IDF to hold its fire while the hostages remain in Gaza.
It is also noted that the local pause is applied every day. On Wednesday (08/11), it was extended by one hour and on Thursday (09/11), it was six hours due to the large number of Palestinians trying to leave the area.
USA: “Important steps”
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the pauses came after discussions between US and Israeli officials in recent days, including talks between US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Kirby said, according to APE – MEP, that the pauses they will enable the world not to be on the path of evil and distribute humanitarian aid and may be used as a way to free hostages.
“We were told by the Israelis today that there will be no military operations in these areas during the pause; and how that process begins today,” said Kirby and added:
“We understand that Israel will begin implementing a four-hour ceasefire in northern Gaza with the announcement being made three hours in advance.”
He called the news a step in the right direction, saying: “We believe these are here important first steps etcand obviously we want to see them continue for as long as necessary.”
Kirby finally said how a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas fighters it is not on the table because it would help Hamas and “legitimize what they did on October 7, and we’re just not going to support that at this time.”
