On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the luxury cruise ship Norwegian Gem, of the Norwegian Cruise Line company, sailed to the Port of Heraklion for the first time
Cruise ship Norwegian Gem is 294.13m long, built in 2007, with transportation capacity 2,430 passengers.
Leaving behind its previous destination the port of Alanya in Turkey, it sailed to the Port of Heraklion with 1,757 passengers and 1,036 crew and with the next destination the Port of Rhodes. The choice of Greece demonstrates that it is a safe tourist destination and one of the most famous worldwide.
The President of the Heraklion Port Authority, Mr. Ioannis Vardavas, as part of the formal visit, went to the Norwegian Gem cruise ship together with the Master of the Heraklion Shipyard, Mr. Georgios Dandoulakis, where they were welcomed by the ship’s Captain, Mr. D Souza Deep Willy, as well as the Chief .
The President of OLI, Mr. Ioannis Vardavas, after thanking the Captain of the Norwegian Gem Cruise Ship, exchanged commemorative plaques and then discussed issues related to the cruise sector, pointing out that 2023 is a very good year for the port of Heraklion in terms of cruise ship arrivals .
Please note that the Norwegian Gem Cruise Ship will visit the Port of Heraklion again twice, on the 18the and the 25ththe November 2023.
