The upgrading of a road to a highway is one of the contractual obligations of the next Egnatia Road concession holder.

As Mr. Tachiaos pointed out, the upgrading of the Chalastra-Polykastro section will lead to interventions on the existing roadand therefore “a meeting should be held with the Thessaloniki Traffic Police and the Kilkis Traffic Police in order to discuss low-cost measures that will improve the situation at least in terms of road safety”.

He added that there should also be individual responsibility, with compliance with the Road Traffic Code.
