Dedicated to Lesvos, the most delicious travel show, the “Akis‘ Food Tour», the wonderful culinary journey of Akis Petretzikis. Our favorite chef puts the pots in the cupboard, leaves behind the studio and starts traveling in Greece. His mission? To explore the cuisines in the most remote parts of the country. From Psara to Epirus and from Evros to Psiloritis, the beloved chef takes us on an unconventional culinary adventure. She cooks in huge cauldrons, peeks into foreign pots, weaves garlic, “hunts” mushrooms, dances around rich tables, makes local pasta and is inspired by the most special recipes of the country.
Companions of the “Akis‘ Food Tour» II are the viewers who recommend the places he visits but also the local residents of each region who help him discover what “haute cuisine” really means in the local kitchens, fields and mountains of Greece. Put pins on the farthest points of the map and get ready. Akis takes us on a tour of Lesvos, Chios, Psara, Karpathos, Mountainous Crete, Tinos, Florina, Grevena, Konitsa, Xanthi, Komotini, Northern Evros and the Thessaloniki of his childhood.
The most delicious travel series on Greek television premieres from the unspoiled island of Lesvos. Akis arrives at the famous pilgrimage of Taxiarchis in the north of the island and tries the kishkeki, a special festive food that simmers for 24 hours in large cauldrons. He rolls up his sleeves and joins the men of the village in distributing the food. In the same village, he meets Stelios Stamatis, one of the last traditional potters of the Aegean.
In the village of Petra, he learns the traditional way of eating legumes on the island and converses with them honeyed chickpeas with meat in a clay pot which have just come out of the wood-fired oven. The special lessons of island gastronomy continue in the village of Agia Paraskevi where the women of the village make him create “paddles”crispy trachana cups filled with all kinds of ingredients.
In the afternoon, with a view of the Molyvos sunset, a group of locals introduce Akis to the most delicious ritual: they teach him the correct way to drink Lesbos ouzo along with dozens of traditional ouzo mezes. The next day, Vangelis the Tekes, the itinerant fisherman of Molyvos meets Akis and takes him on a… trading mission.
And after they sell out, the “Akis‘ Food Tour», continues to the south of the island. In the mountain village of Agiasos, we watch how they are served hut with wine and breadwe see Akis tasting the famous king pie with a thousand leaves and then we learn the recipe for Poppy leaf meatballs.
At the end of the episode, the beloved cook is enchanted by the urban cuisine he tastes in the kitchens of the mansions of Mytilene and is dizzy by the tastes, smells, olives, cheeses and delicacies he discovers in the city market.
