Supermarket: Competition is increasing in Patras food retail

The changes and new data coming…

New data are coming to the area of supermarkets in Patras, with some of them already in effect and having been the starting point for some changes in the food retail trade.

The bottom line is that a well-known local chain has been bought by another local chain that aspires to take a significant market share.

The brands in the stores of the second one have already been made and now this businessman is considered as one of the biggest players in the sector in Western Greece, having a total of 30 stores.

The main competitor of this chain is an equally local supermarket chain that seems to hold its own market share, not only in Patras, but also in its region.

But the changes that are coming and seem to shape new data are related to the two shopping centers of Ten Brinke, which based on the same information among the businesses they will house are two supermarkets, of different brands that do not come from the local market.

In one of them, in Psilalonia, it is known that a new store of a Greek supermarket chain originating from Northern Greece will be opened, while it is questionable what will be opened by this branch, in the former ABEX.

However, there are already three stores of a German chain operating in Patras, while only two stores of another Athenian chain exist on the periphery of the center.

Together with the stores of the two major domestic brands operating in Patras, one can easily understand that the competition is growing significantly both in the Achaean capital and in Achaia.
