Police arrested 2 people – Olive oil will be checked
Police officers of the Department of Operational Tactics and Action of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Trafficking in Human Beings of the Directorate of Security of Thessaloniki, identified and arrested, after appropriate use of information, two (2) persons who had for sale quantities of olive oil of dubious quality and authenticity, lacking the necessary documents and purchase invoices.
It’s about citizens aged 39 and 33 (male and female respectively) against whom a case file was filed for violation of the Legislation regarding “Rules regulating the purchase of products and the provision of services and other provisions” and of the Legislation concerning “Administrative measures, procedures and sanctions in the application of EU and national legislation in the fields of food, animal feed and animal health and protection and other provisions of the competence of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food”.
Specifically, the arrested persons were caught committing the above criminal act, in the early hours of yesterday (08-11-2023) in close proximity to a public market in the area of Toumba, while during the police control that was carried out, they were found and confiscated 12 containers containing oil (metal and plastic) with a capacity of 5 liters each, 1 pad with handwritten notes they used for orders and 22 Post-it notes with their contact information to promote their products.
At her request of the assigned Service, E.F.E.T.’s workshop came and took samples from the confiscated itemswhich he will send to the relevant Chemical Service for further laboratory examination.
Those arrested, with the case filed against them, will be taken to the competent judicial authorities.
