The following announcement was issued by the Preveza Secretariat of PAME:
Unions of the private and public sector from Preveza with the support of the Labor Center of Ioannina staged a demonstration outside a notary office in the center of Ioannina demanding that the auction of a low-pension builder’s property be stopped.
The 82-year-old retired builder with heart disease became a guarantor for his children’s loans in 2006. Loans worth 15 and 20 thousand euros that he regularly paid off from his arrears since his only income is his current pension of 650 euros and his wife’s corresponding pension 420 euros. He regularly paid off the installments of the loans until his governments cut off the EKAS which went entirely to cover the loan obligations.
During today’s mobilization, the low pensioner came to the notary office that has undertaken the forced execution of the auction on behalf of the well-known Du Value. According to the notary, the auction was declared barren since no interested party was found to pay 94,000 euros, while a second auction with a 20% discount on the value is expected to take place in the next period, and in the event of the absence of an interested buyer, a third auction will follow with a 60% discount on the value .
The mobilization was attended by Nikos Exarchos president of the Labor Center of Ioannina and Member of Parliament of Ioannina of the KKE.
