The end was happy for the adventure that a 33-year-old mountaineer had, from early Wednesday afternoon, on Olympus…
It all started around 5 pm, when the mountaineer, originally from Halkidiki, called 112 to the Fire Service, reporting that he had become disoriented while on the slopes of Mytikas.
An alarm was immediately raised and forces of the 8th EMAK were mobilized (two groups with 7 people), a vehicle with 2 people from the P.Y. Elassonas, while 4 people from the 2nd EMAK rushed to help.
The firefighters who were on the slopes of Olympus tried under adverse conditions, as everything was covered by thick fog.
The climber was spotted after 10pm and they started the descent on foot towards the KEOACH, where the Fire Department vehicles were parked.
The general picture of the 33-year-old’s state of health was good, while he was then transferred to the Elassona Health Center in a Fire Department vehicle for purely preventive reasons.
The operation was completed after 3 a.m. Thursday.
