Another modern and innovative examination method is starting to be applied at the General Hospital of Patras “Agios Andreas”. This is magnetic enterography, a method applied to the magnet machine based on a different protocol.

Based on this, the training of doctors and operators started today by the representative of the company in the presence of the commander of the 6th Ministry of Health, Giannis Karvelis, and Mr. hospital administrator Panagiotis Dimopoulos. The director of the department, Andriani Faturou, was also present.

The new magnetic enterography protocol is the test of choice for imaging idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is used to investigate inflammatory diseases of the small intestine, such as Crohn’s disease, to monitor its progress, as well as to evaluate the course of the disease and the presence of its extraintestinal complications as well as the postoperative course.

Especially in inflammatory diseases, the endoscopic methods used to visualize the intestine are quite difficult. The magnetic enterography method is more easily accepted by the patient, simpler procedurally and has a shorter duration and burden for the patient and is used more easily in new patients.

Other indications are ileus, small bowel tumors, unexplained small bowel bleeding and abdominal pain in pregnant women and young people.
