Participation of D. Larissai in the opening meeting of URBACT IV “In4Green”, in the city of Aviles, Spain

In the city of Avilés, Spain, the inaugural transnational meeting of the “In4Green – Greener Industrial Cities” project, implemented within the framework of the European territorial cooperation program URBACT IV, took place on October 25 and 26. The project aims to empower and increase the capacity of participating cities and their local actors from industrial areas to overcome barriers to the transition to greener economies while remaining competitive and inclusive cities.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all the cities of the network, namely Sabadell from Spain, Larissa from Greece, Famalicão from Portugal, Dąbrowa Górnicza from Poland, Salerno from Italy, Žďár nad Sázavou from the Czech Republic, of Meath County from Ireland, Soligen from Germany and Bijelo Polje from Montenegro.

During the two-day meeting the members of the network under the guidance of the Lead Expert had the opportunity, through educational tools and techniques of the URBACT program, to collaborate on local challenges, good practices and the needs of cities in the course of planning a coherent set of actions that will contribute to the green transition.

At the same time, in the context of meetings with local bodies, the representatives of the partners were informed about the development strategy of the city of Avilés as well as about the cooperation of public and private bodies to promote research, technology and innovation in the steel and iron industry, which is the main competitive advantage of the region while they had the opportunity to make working visits to companies and research centers of the city of Avilés.
