The Member of Parliament for Kozani and Head of the Tourism Department of the SYRIZA-PS, Mrs. Vetta, held a meeting yesterday, 6.11.2023, with the President of the Federation of Greek Associations of Travel and Tourism Agencies at the Federation’s offices, with the aim of informing about the issues that concern Greek tourism and role of tourist offices.
The meeting was attended by the Head of Tourism of SYRIZA-PS Ms. Kalliopi Vetta, the President of the Federation Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis and their colleagues.
During this first introductory meeting, full information was given by the Federation on the data of the tourist market, on the crises that affected it and continue to affect it, and on the predicted development of tourist traffic in the immediate future, as long as there are no new unforeseen developments.
Also discussed were the problem of the tourist market of Thessaly after the catastrophic floods, the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine, as well as the numerous outstanding issues in the tourist office industry.
At the same time, Ms. Kalliopi Vetta informed the Federation in particular about the recent parliamentary interventions of the Official Opposition with the aim of direct support from the State to businesses and workers in the sector in the areas affected by the recent disasters, while the meeting is expected to be repeated as soon as possible possible, in order to discuss in depth all the issues that concern the sector.
In the same context, the Head of Tourism Ms. Kalliopi Vetta is planning a series of similar informational meetings with Tourism agencies and employee representatives, on the one hand to highlight and promote the issues of the sector and on the other hand for the SYRIZA-PS plan for sustainable tourism development.
