Mild to moderate drought conditions were experienced in October 2023 38% of the country’s land area, according to the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr.

At a time when a part of Greece, especially Thessaly, is… drowning under tons of water central and eastern Macedonia and especially Thrace present drought conditions, which are characterized as moderate and in some places extreme.

Mild drought conditions they appear in areas of central and eastern Peloponnese, eastern Sterea (including Attica), central and southern Evia, as well as some Aegean islands.

Also, mild drier conditions were also observed in some areas of central and western Macedonia.
