At a time when many social groups are preparing to join the dance of mobilizing against the tax regulations that sack all freelancers as tax evaders, Kostis Hatzidakis reached the point of… exercising professional criticism, stating in a recent interview that “if you work for 10 years and you make less than your employee, then something is wrong, because you don’t do something else, you don’t go to become an employee and take your employee’s money. We’re not going to sit around mocking and hiding behind populist clichés and pissing off people who are actually low paid and making them pay even more tax. I have a conscience issue, whoever doesn’t, has his own conscience.”

Responding to all this, Dimitris Vervesos, president of the Bar Association, did not mince his words and accused the relevant minister of having everything ready as a child of the party tube and now criticizes and characterizes all lawyers as tax evaders.

“He beats the poor devils. He hasn’t practiced law a day in his life, he doesn’t know where the courts are, he doesn’t know how the salary comes out, he had everything ready, he was a child of the party tube, he got the party and government compensations and he has lived richly for so many years through his party membership. And now he comes and arrests all the tax evading lawyers” he said speaking to Open to add that the measures of Kostis Hatzidakis are worse than the measures of Giorgos Katrougalos because then the smallest lawyers had less insurance contributions.
