The Courthouse of Heraklion is on track for implementation, after years of inactivity and waiting according to the answer given by the ministry to the question of Heraklion PASOK MP Eleni Vatsina on the matter.
According to Ms. Vacina’s press release:
In response to a relevant question from Heraklion PASOK MP Elenis Vatsina regarding the planning for the construction of the new Heraklion Courthouse (https://pasok.gr/erwthsh-elenhs-batsina-gia-neo-dikastiko-megaro-hrakleioy/) The Directorate of Building Infrastructure states that the tender process will begin with the issuance of the relevant announcement within the first ten days of the current month and is expected to be completed (the tender process) by the end of 2024.
This development comes shortly after the visit of the Minister of Justice G. Floridis to Heraklion, from where he announced immediate developments for the Courthouse.
In her statement, Eleni Vacina states:
“Our significant pressures bring results to the long-suffering issue of the Heraklion Courthouse.
However, the completion of the tender, after that the granting of construction permits and finally the construction and reconstruction of the Courthouse is placed in such a long period of time that the problems in the administration of Justice will take longer and intensify. Until then, there is no provision for the proper functioning of the Courts in Heraklion. The daily life of citizens, lawyers, court officials and civil servants will continue under these conditions to be unbearable and we will persist in pressure to solve their problems”.
