Mourning prevails in Volos after the tragic traffic accident that occurred, with the victim of a 4-month-old infant.
Everything happened near a restaurant on Antonopoulou Street. The 53-year-old grandfather and his wife had arrived at the scene, and after a while his daughter, son-in-law and just 4-month-old granddaughter arrived.
Wanting to help, he crossed Iasonos street, took the baby without its stroller and tried to return the same way, crossing Iasonos street at the height of Antonopoulou.
Unfortunately, the 53-year-old and baby were swept away by a passing car, in front of his relatives.

After the traffic accident, the grandmother in a state of shock, took the infant in her arms while a passing taxi took them to the Volos hospital.
In the hospital, superhuman efforts were made to manage to keep the unfortunate infant alive, but they did not succeed and it ended.
Testimony for the driver
The driver of the machine that ran over the 53-year-old with the 4-month-old infant, claimed yesterday that the man jumped in front of him and that he maneuvered to avoid the accident.
He was left injured on the asphalt, while the machine without the rider continued for another 70-100 meters from the scene of the tragic incident.
The driver is charged with dangerous driving, as according to what ERT reported, there is a witness who testified that he saw the rider of the motorcycle maneuvering on Iasonos Street, long before he reached the fatal point of the traffic accident and based on the new PC and with article 290 subsection d. if death occurs, the charge is a felony.
The driver was tested for alcohol consumption, but the results are not yet known.
However, it remains to be seen if the driver actually made dangerous maneuvers beforehand.
The 33-year-old to the investigator
In the meantime, the 33-year-old driver of the car that ran over the 53-year-old grandfather, who had his 4-month-old grandson in his arms, passed the investigator’s door at noon on Sunday, while he was trying to cross the road in Volos on Saturday night.
The 33-year-old requested and received a deadline to apologize on Tuesday, November 7.

The two men and the infant were taken to hospital where the infant was pronounced dead and the two men slightly injured. The driver of the motorcycle was arrested, while the preliminary investigation into the causes and circumstances of the accident is being conducted by the Volos Traffic Department.”
