The year 2023 marked one hundred (100) years since the death of the leading Greek prose writer KONSTANTINOU THEOTOKI.
In this context, Society of Corfu Studies has planned for the year 2023 a series of activities dedicated to KONSTANTINOS THEOTOKIS, in order to honor the memory of the great writer and to hand over evidence of his life and activities to the younger generations.
Among the top events planned by the Society of Corfu Studies is the Scientific conference, which takes place on Friday November 10, Saturday November 11 and Sunday November 12, 2023, in the hall of the Solomos Museum of Corfu.
Friday, November 10, 2023 (Solomos Museum).
The Conference starts at 16.30 pm. on Friday with the registration of delegates and listeners. Following at 17.00 announcements about the work of Constantinos Theotokis, by: Nassou Martinou, Marias Tsoutsouras, Ioanna Naum, Antigonis Vlavianou, Anna Katsigianni, Pantelis Voutouris, Georgias Papageorgiou, Theotokis Zervos, Alexis Zira and Yiannis Papakostas.
In the second part of this session, a round table will take place on the topic: “The social and political conditions of the time of Constantine Theotokos”. Teachers will take part, Nikos Alivizatos, Yiannis Voulgaris and George Donatos.
Saturday, November 11, 2023 (morning, Solomon Museum):
The Conference continues with announcements for the prose work of Constantinos Theotokis, of: Vera Hatzi, Stefanias Kofina, Evangelia Prasinou, Georgia Pateridou, Panagiotas Daouti, Penelope Avouri and joint statement of: Zois Dionysiou, Nausikas-Maria Fronimos, Maria Zarkadas, Stefanias Lakonitis and Sofias Siapera, for the assessment of an inter-artistic-pedagogical program.
Transfer to the Old Fortress (I.N. Agios Georgios):
At 12.30 the delegates and listeners will be in the Old Fort, where a solo violin recital will take place by Maria-Bozena Suerev and announcements will be made of: Costa Suarev and Marina Papasotiriou.
Saturday, November 11, 2023 (afternoon, Solomon Museum):
On the evening of Saturday 11 November 2023 at the Solomon Museum and from 17.00 the announcements mentioned in prose and poetry work of Konstantinos Theotokis, by: Nicolaidas Penna, Mario Kyparissi-Morou, Pericles Pagrati and Michael G. Kalavrou.
Following in the second session of the Solomon Museum, which starts at 18.30 pm, announcements based on archival material of: Foteinis Karlafti-Mouratidi, Nasas Patapiou, Manolis Drakaki, Marias Vlassopoulou and Dimitris Theotokis.
Then, the Municipal Regional Theater of Corfu (DIPETHE, Art Direction: Barbara Duke) will present at 8.30 p.m. in the Studio of the Municipal Theatre theater analogous to the play: “Galatia Kazantzakis, from my acquaintance with the man”, directed by: Thalias Griva and interpretation: Thalias Grivas, Petrou Rapsomanikis and Thomas Karydis.
Sunday, November 12, 2023 (morning, Solomon Museum):
At 09:30 on the morning of Sunday, November 12, 2023, the announcements continue at the Solomos Museum. The first part will be dedicated to the reception of the work of Constantinos Theotokis, the transfer of his works to cinema and television and translations of his works into other languages, with announcements of: Annas Afentoulidou, Vasias Chieraki, Nikis Miga, Stephen SawasVera Konidaris and Stella Voutsa. The second part is dedicated to the translator Theotokos, with announcements by: Letos Alexakis, Annas Korniliou, Giorgos Kentrotis, Vassilis Letsiou and Theodorou Pappa.
The Conference will close with a report and conclusions of the Conference.
