New Democracy Member of Parliament Euripides Stylianidis had a working meeting with the Minister of Education Kyriakos Pierrakakis. The Thracian politician publicly thanked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and especially the new Minister of Education who, respecting pre-election commitments, unblocked issues of strengthening the Democratic University of Thrace and making it the 3rd University in the country.
It had been preceded by a long and persistent struggle by the MP in complete coordination with Rector Fotis Maris and the Management of the IFT in the effort to curb reactions and to intercept pressures exerted by various people on the leadership of the Ministry and the Government. The final decisions were taken at the last Cabinet meeting and announced by the Prime Minister.
Euripides Stylianidis particularly thanked Kyriakos Pierrakakis who helped catalyze the promotion of the priorities he had set before the elections as his personal commitments.
Specifically, as stated after the meeting, the Member of Parliament Rodopis “the an important development is the implementation of my first programmatic commitment. DFT is evolving into the third strongest University in Greece. The new School of Occupational Therapy opens in Komotini and Psychology in Didymoteicho. The departments from Kavala, Drama and Evros that had gone to the International University of Thessaloniki during SYRIZA are returning to the University of Thessaloniki. It is planned to increase the number of newly admitted students and new credits to increase the academic staff. I also asked the Minister for the creation of an Art school in the new infrastructure of Sidirohori Prefecture which will bring students from all over the Prefecture of Rodopi to the settlement. Finally, I invited the Minister to visit Komotini as soon as possible in order to be informed about new policies that could be rolled out in the region”.
