The Municipality of Patreon is betting on a system with sensors that will check the condition of diversion wells.

As is known, especially in the center of Patras, the problems with the wells often lead to flooding after rainfall. However, a control system seems to help to deal with these phenomena.

As the President of DEVAP Andreas Papanikitas explains speaking to thebest.gr,through a program, a control system with sensors is prepared so that we have an image of whether they are working, if they are clogged, at what level the water is and if we can intervene.

There will be sensors with which the level of water, sewage or rain in the well will be controlled. From then on, the maintenance time and the well functioning of the wells will be assessed. The sensors are intended for wells located in Agios Andreas, Akti Dymaia, Othonos Amalias and in coastal networks that may overflow in the event of a large volume of water. The purpose is to be able to identify malfunctions and to intervene so that sewage does not spill into the sea. The data will be collected in a scada system at a site that will be chosen to install the central system and we will also have the history of the diversion wells.

Aiming to have the system installed and operational by 2024, this is a system that will help where there is readiness and we operate properly».
