In the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Elena Rapti, the Consecration of the Argos Tourism School

On 31/10/2023, the established Consecration ceremony of the new ex. year 2023 2024 at the IEK Tourism in Constantopoulio Megaro in Argos where the School of Tourism is housed.

The Consecration was performed by Father Theodoros Botsonis where he blessed the students, staff and teachers. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mrs. Elena Rapti, the Mayor of Argos Mykenos Mr. Kamposos Dimitrios who wished a happy new year to all the students, the Member of Parliament Mr. Andrianos Ioannis who also addressed the students and the Director of Tourism Education and Training of the Ministry of Tourism Ms. Nikolaou Elena, the Head of the support department for Export Units of the Ministry of Tourism Ms. Melina Kavouklis and the Politician of the Province of Argolis Ms. Sonia Tantaro Krigou.

Ms. Rapti Elena, after addressing the students, staff and attendees, thanked the Mayor of Argos of Mycenae for the concession of the Municipal buildings – premises to the IEK Tourism Office since the summer of 2012 and underlined the importance of tourism education and training and the upgrading of tourism schools as a commitment of both the Government and the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism. Also Ms. Rapti Elena congratulated the Director of the school and the teaching staff for the level of studies provided and the structure – completeness of the workshops of the IEK school.

At the end of the event, the Deputy Minister talked to the students of the school about all the issues that concern them, she was guided around all the areas of the IEK and visited the Cooking – Pastry workshops where she attended the workshop lesson with the Cooking teacher Mr. Georgios Kleidaras .

He also met at the initiative of the Director and the rest of the educational staff and analyzed relevant issues that were brought up at the meeting.

The Tourism School IEK Pel/sou has developed for this year 10 departments with the following 4 specializations in morning and afternoon operation which exceed 160 students in strength:

• Executive of Hospitality Units

• Culinary Art Technician – Chef

• Management and Finance Executive in Tourism (Travel Agency Technician)

• Pastry Bakery Technician

The course is two years with a 6-month paid internship in tourism companies throughout Greece and leads, after certification exams, to a Level 5 Diploma according to the National Qualifications Framework with the prospect of admission to HEIs following relevant exams and a corresponding announcement.
