Property Transfer / The TAP certificate for property transfers is abolished – This measure is part of the upcoming bill of the Ministry of Digital Governance

The decision to cancel the certificate of non-debt of Real Estate Tax for the transfer of real estate, decided the Council of Ministers according to information during yesterday’s meeting.

This is a document whose issuance significantly burdened the process of completing a property purchase and sale and is part of a series of initiatives taken by the Ministry of Digital Governance with the aim not only of digitization but also of reducing bureaucracy.

It is worth noting that according to the World Bank, the average bureaucratic steps in each country is 4.7, while in Greece it is 11.

The abolition of the TAP certificate comes to provide a solution to a very practical problem that citizens and investors were facingsince there were not a few cases where the delay in its issuance by the Municipalities meant the expiration of validity, for other certificates such as tax awareness, leading transfers to a dead end.

This measure is included in the upcoming Bill of the Ministry of Digital Governance which is expected to be submitted to public consultation soon and will be presented by the competent Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis.

The new regulation is expected to immediately facilitate both citizens and investors in order to put an end to the suffering of thousands of people, who are attempting to carry out a real estate transaction.
