The candidate Regional Mayor, head of the “New Western Greece – United We Can” combination, Spyros Skiadaresis, had a meeting with the management of the Patras Express Taxi Owners Association, where he had the opportunity to discuss issues of the professional driver industry, as well as to be informed about the plan development and modernization with a five-year horizon. Mr. Skiadaresis, recognizing the professional and social role of taxi owners and drivers, pointed out that the Region must strengthen the competitiveness of the sector, through targeted actions, such as the use of technology for training and infrastructure improvement, the promotion of road safety and sustainability and providing incentives for fleet renewal.

“I listened with particular attention to the proposals of the Taxi Owners’ Association, which, among other things, claim funding for the replacement of old vehicles with new ones of new technology, for the purchase of a special van to serve tourists and visitors, as well as a special vehicle to serve the disabled , for the use of taxi vehicles for the installation of defibrillators with driver training, for the acquisition of a special vehicle for the transport of small animals and more. Their claims are fair, as they do not only concern the sustainability of the sector, but also the improvement of the services provided. In this context, we are on their side, believing in their dynamics and social contribution”, said Mr. Skiadaresis immediately after the meeting.
