B. KOKKALIS: THE COMPENSATION OF THE APPLE GROWERS OF LARISA IS UNCOVERED

For “an overt mockery of the apple growers of the Larissa Regional Unit regarding the announcement of 300 euros as a de minimis aid amount per productive acre of cultivation” speaks the Member of Parliament for Larisa of SYRIZA – P.S. Mr. Vassilis Kokkaliswith his question to the competent Minister of Rural Development and Food, Mr. Giorgos Georgantas.

In his question in detail, Mr. Kokkalis mentions the following: “According to a Press Release of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food dated January 2, 2023, it was decided to pay €300 as a de minimis aid amount per productive hectare of apple cultivation in PE of Larisa, in order to support the producers who have been damaged.

In his statements, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Apostolos Vesyropoulos, on January 8, 2023, stated that the de minimis aid to apple producers would be paid at the beginning of February.

Even though February has passed, not only has the aid in question not yet been paid, but the beneficiaries and the amount of the aid have not even been determined by a Joint Ministerial Decision.

Because the serious problems observed in the apple production of P.E. Larisa significantly damaged the producers.

Because the cost of production is very high and the apple growers are unable to cope.

Because apple cultivation is in the phase of the growing season with particularly increased needs for agricultural supplies and the producers are deprived of the possibility of allocating the necessary financial funds for their supply.

Because a large majority of apple growers already have significant financial outstandings with their suppliers and are unable to cover them.

Because there have been a multitude of Government statements and commitments for the immediate payment of €300 per productive hectare of apple cultivation in the Larissa PE through de minimis aid, to support the producers who have been damaged.

The responsible Minister is asked:

Does he intend to determine by Joint Ministerial Decision the amount of €300 as a de minimis aid amount per productive hectare of apple cultivation – for all varieties – in the Larissa PE and if so, what is the exact payment schedule?”
