Kyveli Hatziefstratiou: The expert’s assessment of the fatal traffic accident – “The speed was not the right one”

Investigations are ongoing into the fatal traffic accident in the center of Athens involving the well-known model, Kyveli Hatziefstratiou, with the victim being a 60-year-old passing motorcyclist who died while at work.

Last year’s GNTM fashion contest winner, who remained at the scene after the crash, was arrested and released a short time later after being taken to the prosecutor’s office. At the same time, an order was given to continue the preliminary investigation in order to establish the circumstances under which the fatal incident occurred.

Everything happened around 03:00 in the morning, when the vehicle driven by the well-known model, as seen in the video from the closed circuit camera, crossed the junction of Aristotelous and Pipino streets, hitting the motorcycle driver with particular severity. As shown in the collision document, the driver’s body was thrown several meters away, while his broken motorcycle remained in the middle of the road.

In the context of the investigations which, as mentioned above, are in full progress, the iefimerida.gr sought the opinion of the experienced traffic accident-accident expert, Panagiotis Madia, who, commenting on what has come to light so far, placed himself in this regard.

“With all caution because the investigations are still open, from what I see so far I conclude that the speed of the vehicle involved in the accident was not the appropriate one. This also results from the further end the car had and the damage it caused to parked cars”notes Mr. Madias at iefimerida.gr.

“Once we are informed about the case file, we will be able to accurately say the speed of the vehicle. What needs to be clarified is whether the traffic light is pulsating from the point where the driver passed. Orange flashing light is equivalent to STOP. The driver is obliged to stop and cross the road with great care,” he continues.

The 60-year-old was running errands on his motorbike

According to information, the unfortunate 60-year-old – father of three children – who met a tragic death was at work. In fact, at that time he was returning to his shop after an order he had just delivered.

The employee waiting back at the store became concerned as the 60-year-old was late returning and immediately called his wife. After a while it was found that the 60-year-old man was dead on the asphalt. The young model is charged with manslaughter.
