18 Turkish citizens, who went to Symi island opposite the Datsa district of Mugla, with yachts like tourists, they requested political asylum from Greece, writes a Turkish publication.

University professors and diplomats were among those who bought ferry tickets from Symi to the port of Piraeus.

The 18 Turks, including women and children, who went to the island of Symi were stopped and detained as suspects while boarding the ship with the tickets they bought for the port of Piraeus.

They have requested political asylum

According to the Greek news outlet kostoday.gr, it was revealed that the people known as university professors and diplomats were sued in Turkey because of the “FETO/PYD terrorist organization” and that they requested political asylum in Greece, citing that there was an arrest warrant.

Turkish citizens who arrived last month in Symi and filed an asylum request in Greece, are now a “common phenomenon” for the relevant Greek services in the last five years, since 2017, as individual incidents of arrivals in the Aegean islands occur frequently.

These are Turks persecuted by the Erdoğan regime, who get into boats and more commonly into smugglers’ speedboats and come to Greece to escape, on the same “routes” that are carried out for immigrants and refugees from other countries (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, etc.).

According to information from the local station Real Voice 99.5, a few days ago about 16-18 Turkish citizens arrived in Symi, asking for asylum, on two different occasions.

In fact, according to the report, in one case it was about 8 Turkish diplomats and in the second for so many other Turkish citizens, judges and University Professors of the neighboring country, who were forced to leave Turkey to escape persecution, for fear of being imprisoned by the Erdogan regime.

For the most part, the so-called “Gülenists” and those persecuted by the regime leave their country, due to the prevailing situation and the climate towards the “dissidents”, seeking refuge in Greece.

Educated people, top officials in their country, among them – as was conveyed to us – and diplomats, except for judges (!)…

Their situation is similar to that of thousands of judges, academics, intellectuals, civil servants, journalists, businessmen, executives of the ED, who… turned into “enemies of the nation”.

Arrest of 18 immigrants

In addition, the remarkable fact is that on Friday 18 illegal immigrants were arrested in Symi who appeared well-dressed and groomed as… tourists, at an agency on the island, to issue ferry tickets bound for Piraeus.

They were then noticed and arrested by the competent authorities.

The illegal immigrants in question, according to information, went to Symi from Rhodes and because they knew that in the central port of Rhodes it would be difficult to get on a ferry to Piraeus, they chose to go to the small island of the Dodecanese by day boat from Rhodes, considering the “sea route” of Symi to be easier for them to travel undisturbed to the first port of the country and are now detained by the Police.

In fact, it has recently been observed again that illegal immigrants cross from Rhodes to Symi and are arrested there, according to the testimonies of residents.
