Tragic “aspect” for the death of doctor Nikos Katsaros at his home in Hersonissos – Crete

In an atmosphere of deep sorrow, relatives and friends say goodbye today, Sunday, October 2, 2022, to the 55-year-old orthopedic doctor Nikos Katsaros in Malia, who was found dead at his home last Friday.

The news of his death came as a shock as none of his colleagues believed the sudden bad news of his demise. The doctor had not turned up for work since Thursday which worried his colleagues who searched for him without hearing anything about him.

One of them went to the doctor’s house where he lived alone and found him dead on his couch. The “bad” news spread enormous sadness to relatives, friends and hundreds of patients he had treated as a doctor and who knew him as an excellent scientist and good man.

The tragic detail is the fact that just one day before, his mother, who is facing many health problems and has been with him lately, had left Crete, in order to return to the family home in Piraeus, where Nikos Katsaros came from.

So he was left alone and when he needed help there was no one at home on the Peninsula. Nikos Katsaros, although he was not a Cretan for the last 20 years, had chosen to live and work in Crete. Nikos Katsaros also had a sister, Eleni Katsaros.

The funeral of the dear doctor will take place today, Sunday, October 2 at 12:30 pm, in the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, in Malia.

The body of the deceased will be in the Church from 11 am.

His colleagues from the private center in Hersonissos where he worked say goodbye with a big thank you saying in a statement: “Our lives have changed forever… we are devastated to announce that our team and our society are experiencing a terrible loss. The beloved and our renowned doctor Nikolaos Katsaros, passed away unexpectedly leaving our hearts broken and our tears endless. Being a mainstay of the Cretan Medicare family he was our strength, a valuable colleague and friend. His contribution to the local community was sincere , noble, always putting people first.

We won’t say goodbye, we’ll say thank you. Thank you for coming into our lives and giving us joy, thank you for loving us and receiving our love in return. Thank you for the memories we will keep forever. “In life, we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. You have a place in our hearts that no one else will ever fill.”

We will say goodbye to him at his funeral on October 2, 2022 at the Holy Church of Agios Nektarios Malia at 12:30. Our beloved will be in the holy temple from 11:00 a.m.”
