The brutal murder in Kavala of 31-year-old photographer Anna K. and her 10-month-old baby by her 56-year-old husband, who then committed suicide, has caused shock.

Everything points to a premeditated crime, with the rancher dragging the 31-year-old and the baby into the corral to kill them.

The 31-year-old was Greek-German, raised in Germany, studied in Germany and New York, successful photographer and graphic designer. Six years ago, she came to Lekani, the village in Nestos, to make her diploma, a photo album about her place of origin. However, he fell in love with the place and the breeder and stayed. She lived with the rancher for years until they separated after having their child, a 10-month-old boy. Since July, after disagreements and fights, they have been separated, with the young woman and the baby having moved to her grandfather’s house.

Although they had court last Tuesday for the custody of the child, there was no tension, according to her lawyer, and in general she had left the breeder free to see his child whenever he wanted.

Although the victim’s lawyer described iefimerida as a man who was indifferent to the young woman and their baby, he was pathologically jealous of her and did not want her to leave the village. This is possibly the reason why he killed the young woman he considered his property… 31-year-old Anna intended to go to Germany for some procedural issues after her father’s death, but she was returning to the village. But he thought he would leave forever and yesterday morning set a trap for his ex-partner and their 10-month-old baby.

Specifically, early in the morning, he passed by, took the young woman and the baby from their house and they all went to the corral together to play with the goats. According to the neighbor’s testimony, Anna was afraid, before leaving she asked her to call her every half hour on the phone.

It is unknown what was said, or if anything was said. The rancher raised his rifle and killed the child and Anna. He put them side by side and after calling his cousin telling him to come to the corral quickly, he ended his life. Their rancher’s cousin found all three dead inside the hut.

“The couple was not doing well. They lived together, were not married, nor did they have a cohabitation agreement. They met 4 years ago, when the girl had come for a diplomatic assignment. She liked the village, she was a nature lover, she loved animals, she liked the bucolic way of life here in the Kavala Basin, where things are a bit primitive. Apparently this contradiction had excited and fascinated her. Now, was she fascinated by him? From lifestyle? What can I say. However, from July onwards she was separated and lived with her grandfather in the village,” Mr. Apostolidis tells iefimerida.gr, and reveals:

“The woman had received another verbal threat three months before they broke up, that he would kill her and the baby if she left with the child to Germany. The woman didn’t report it anywhere, unfortunately.” However, as she recounts, after communication between them about the baby improved a bit, the father saw the child whenever he wanted.

The lawyer of the unfortunate girl assures that it was not her desire to go to Germany to live, because she had rented a house in the village.

“He wanted to go to Germany for 15-20 days, to settle some inheritance, because the girl had lost her father and grandmother at a young age, and she would return to the village with the baby. He had no intention of staying there and depriving the father of contact with his child. This scared him, it seems, even though we had assured him verbally and in writing, we had even testified under oath in court that there was no such desire.”

To add: “Now, what else was in the clouded mind of this man, God knows. He didn’t look like that. And the day before yesterday when he came to the court he didn’t look angry, nervous, nor did he shout, he looked like a calm person. Of course, they were 25 years apart, he didn’t have the education either, he was a simple farmer, the girl had two degrees, everything plays its role”.

He didn’t take his wife to the maternity ward to give birth himself – He sent a friend, because… he had a job with the goats

Asked why the murder happened, the 31-year-old’s lawyer replied: “The possible explanation I can give is that fear armed his hand. Although he was not burning with love for either the infant or the girl. He proved this on the day the woman gave birth. He didn’t take her to the maternity ward when her water broke, a friend did. He didn’t even visit her, because he had a job with the goats, as he had said.”
