THE Ibrahim Kalin, a representative of the Turkish president spoke about his meeting Tayyip Erdogan with Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

In an interview he gave to NTVaccording to what the representative of the Turkish presidency said, the planning of a meeting between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kyriakos Mitsotakis depends on the Greek Prime Minister.

“I don’t know if there will be a meeting in Prague on October 6-7. It depends on the steps taken by the Greek side. At the moment there are no scheduled meetings with Mitsotakis,” Kalin said.

“Our President takes two steps when one step is taken. I don’t know if there will be a meeting in Prague on October 6-7. It depends on the steps taken by the Greek side. At the moment there are no scheduled meetings with Mitsotakis”, as stated by Erdogan’s representative.

Asked about the F-16 sale to Turkey, Kalin replied: “The US government is very keen on the sale. In our opinion, if it goes to a vote, it will pass both the congress and the senate. If there is no sale, we always have alternatives.”

To a question about the lifting of the arms embargo in Cyprus, he replied: “We have conveyed our discomfort on this matter to the competent authorities. It is unacceptable for the US to lift the embargo as if rewarding the Greek Cypriot side.”

Earlier, Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis in a discussion with his members Council of Foreign Relations he referred to Greece’s relations with Turkey, noting that it is difficult to restore if Ankara continues to behave like this.

He emphasized that he always sought a constructive relationship with Turkey and while three years ago he had said to make a new beginning, Turkey with the Turkish-Libyan memorandum it signed ignores the existence of Greek islands.

In addition, he said that if Turkey continues on this path, it will be isolated from both Europe and the US. Kyriakos Mitsotakis also stated that he is open to dialogue but noted that Mr. Erdogan does not want to talk.

The prime minister reiterated that there is only one framework of rules for dispute resolution, international law and international law of the sea.

What Kyriakos Mitsotakis has stated

It is noted that at the New EU+ Summit, to which Turkey has also been invited, the Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the press conference he gave to TIF.

“I am ready to meet him and he does not wish to see me. I appreciate that we will meet again. There are opportunities in the coming months, in Prague, the EPK meeting that will be Turkey. However, he should know that in a European forum he will obviously be confronted with the Greek argumentation and will be asked to answer if this extremity is consistent with a country that wants relations with Europe”, the Prime Minister had stated.

Speaking on Thursday (22/9) Kyriakos Mitsotakis at Bloombergthe main menu of discussion, however, was the Turkish provocation and what he said from the floor of the UN Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As he had stated:

“It is our destiny by geography to live together. And as I have told him many times, we should be able to agree that even when we disagree, we should do so in a civilized manner. Challenging the sovereignty of a NATO ally is obviously unacceptable. It is not going to be tolerated by Greece, and it basically shows Turkey as a country that is no longer part of what we usually call, the Western alliance.

President Erdogan refuses, during this time, to meet with me. I have said openly that I am always open to discussion and believe that it is in the interest of regional stability to significantly tone down the rhetoric. He’s not helping anyone, I think, not even himself, if he continues down this path.”
