Saint Isidores of Lycabettus: Complaints about ‘false miracles’

Her Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece is expected to be informed by Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos regarding the much-lauded case of the “miracles” that take place in the Holy Church of Saint Isidore of Lycabettus.

In its announcement, the Holy Archdiocese of Athens states: “For the overall treatment and resolution of the issues that have arisen with the Holy Church of Saint Isidore in Lycabettus, His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Mr. Ieronymos has recently taken actions for which he will inform the Permanent Holy Synod of Church of Greece during its regular meetings for the month of October, which will take the relevant decisions”.

It is recalled that since last June they have existed reports of incidents of believers allegedly healed of ailments or health problems that they may have been facing, after their visit to the temple. This had the result of peaking the attendance of the faithful at the holy temple, who in the last period of time form daily long queues to worship.

The case has caused reactions within the Church: THE Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis had spoken of “false miracles” and “traction fraud” about what is happening in the temple, stressing in his statements that official complaints have been made by the church but all of them were put in the drawer by order from above.

There have been three investigations into this case, they are all unsuccessful but they were shelved because politicians are also involved. I am outraged. There is a criminal dimension (..) Why does the State intervene in purely ecclesiastical matters and threaten? I don’t want to name names” said the Metropolitan of Argolis and underlined: “It is a fraud of attraction. From the moment there is advertising, there is ignorance, there is no holiness». At another point in his statements he even spoke of “Sect».

Petros Tatsopoulos: “Let justice intervene”

Intervention of Justice for the “miracles” recorded in the holy temple of Saint Isidore was requested by Petros Tatsopoulos with his Facebook posts. The writer and former member of parliament, addressing the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Isidoros Dogiako, said in his post: “Supreme Court Prosecutor, if you have even a faint memory of when you wrote your 700-page indictment against the Golden Dawn Nazis, stop the ceremonial back-and-forth with the high-ranking obscurants and begin the first in-depth investigation of the longest-running scandal in modern Greece: the trade in “miracles”. Your conscience demands nothing less from you».

In another post, Mr. Tatsopoulos repeated his request for the Justice to intervene in the case of the holy church of Agios Isidores, adding “that the justice should intervene even if it turns against me. I don’t care who will sit in the dock – as long as every charlatan is called to account.”
